Rainbow Obby is an online obstacle-course game by emolingo games, released on Poki in September 2023 as the studio's first game there. It is built on the PlayCanvas engine and is really a bundle of small multiplayer games behind one menu.

What this page loads

The menu lists twelve modes: Classic, Car, Bike, Ball, Cart, Plane, River, Ladder, Troll Tower, Knockout, PvP and Meow Mode. The copy hosted here contains the files for the menu and for Meow Mode only, so that is the mode you can actually play on this page. The rest of this guide covers it.

Meow Mode

In Meow Mode you are a cat let loose in a house full of things to knock over and break. Couches, fridges, washing machines, TVs, guitars, lamps, garbage bins, teddy bears and plates are all fair game. Every breakable object has its own hit points and a minimum level attached to it. Each hit earns experience; fill the bar and your cat levels up, and the experience needed doubles with every level. The house is split into sections, with level doors between them.

You are not alone. A boss character wanders the house and comes after your cat when it gets too close, and other players can share your room. You can swat other cats, and landing a hit on another player earns you a point of Aura while the game labels them a noob.

Controls

Move with WASD or the arrow keys.
Jump with Space.
Swat with the left mouse button; moving the mouse turns the camera.
R makes your cat respawn.

On a phone or tablet, the left half of the screen acts as a movement joystick and on-screen buttons handle jumping and swatting.

Items and rooms

The shop sells a Paw, a Jetpack, a Flying Carpet, a Shield, a Rebirth and four cat skins. Prices are set in wins, Aura or a rewarded ad depending on the item. From the room screen you can create a private room and share its code, or type in a friend's code to join them.

Tips

Check the level shown on an object before spending time on it, and start with the ones that match your cat's level.
Keep an eye on where the boss is before you settle in to break something big.
Hitting other players builds Aura, which is one of the currencies in the shop.
